Our History
Driven by his dream to empower every Filipino through his vision of Philippine Industrialization, Jose N. Concepcion Sr. left his Chief Executive position in a multinational company in 1962 and formed Concepcion Industries Inc. (CII) with his children Raul, Rene, and Mely. Over the years, Concepcion ushered in global brands, built factories, and elevated Filipino craft and workmanship to world standard.
60’s & 70’s - Industrialization
In the first year, Concepcion acquired the license for Carrier Air Conditioners. Within the decade, it had forged alliances with Motorola Communications, Quasar Television, and Kelvinator Refrigerator. Built their first factory to manufacture products in Alabang, Muntinlupa. And integrated with key alliance partners like Kobelco copper tubing, Copeland compressors, and Gould motors and pumps to support local production.
1962
Jose Concepcion Sr. Founded Concepcion Industries Inc.
Jose Concepcion Sr. founded Concepcion Industries Inc. (CII). In the same year, the licensing agree ment between CII and Carrier Global was signed.
70’s & 80’s - Consolidation
This challenging phase in the Philippine economy saw Raul T. Concepcion driving the company towards consolidation and localization with the formation of Condura. Despite the challenges, Raul, along with Rafael Hechanova, Eumelia Concepcion Hechanova, Carmencita delas Alas Concepcion, Rene A. Concepcion, and Jose Concepcion Jr. brought CII into the ranks of the top 100 corporations of the country.
1977
CII Signed A Licensing Agreement With Kelvinator
CII signed a licensing agreement to manufacture and distribute Kelvinator products, now a brand under Electrolux.
1987
A Filipino Brand For The Filipino People, The Condura Brand Was Established
A Filipino brand for the Filipino people, the Condura brand was established to realize the vision of creating world class products, services and capabilities that boast of Filipino expertise and craftsmanship.
90’s & 00’s - Local to Global
In the early 90’s, with the opening up of the Philippine economy, the Concepcion leadership foresaw the need to prepare CII for globalization. It built state-of-the-art factories for refrigerators and air conditioners, a Research & Development Center, and continued to form strategic partnerships with key global companies. Guided by the values of integrity, hard work, customer centricity, and the entrepreneurial spirit handed down through three generations, strong leadership has steered Concepcion through its many phases to become the colossus it is today. This Concepcion brand of leadership continues to be the guiding light as the company pushes forward to transform the business, anticipate customer needs, and elevate consumer experiences as it creates happy spaces for every Filipino.
1995
The Air Conditioning Factory In The LISP Cabuyao, Laguna Was Built
Committed to delivering the best products for its growing customer base, CII built its R&D center and Airconditioning plant in the Light Industry and Science Park (LISP) in Cabuyao, Laguna. This decision was made to take advantage of the rapidly improving manufacturing processes which in turn helps create products to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
1997
CCAC Was Formed Through A Joint Venture With United Technologies Corporation And Its Subsidiary Carrier Corp.
Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Company was formed through a joint venture with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and its subsidiary Carrier Corporation (USA). This was a strategic alliance that strengthened our position as the emerging industry leader of air-cooling solutions in the country, with the vision of becoming the largest air conditioning provider in the country.
2006
CDI Was Formed To Strengthen The Condura Brand
Strengthening the Condura brand, Concepcion Durables Inc. was formed to become the leading refrigeration manufacturer and distributor of Condura – a brand designed by Filipinos for the Filipinos.
2009
CCAC Acquired A License From Carrier To Distribute The Totaline Products In The Philippines
With our goal to provide our customers with an efficient and reliable supply of original Carrier spare part, CCAC acquired a license from Carrier Corporation (USA) to distribute the Totaline Universal Airconditioning and refrigeration parts for the Philippine market
2013
CIC Had Its Initial Public Offering (IPO) In November 2013. CCAC Signed A Joint Venture With The Midea Group.
CIC had its initial public offering (IPO) in November 2013. Driven to serve the needs of the Filipino people, we include the public as our partners for growth, while raising our capital in order to create and provide better product and service solutions for our customers. In the same year, CCAC signed a joint venture with the Midea Group. With this, comes the expansion into other home appliance product lines.
2014
CCAC Signed A Joint Venture With UTC To Distribute The Otis Brand In The Philippines
Concepcion Carrier Air Conditioning Company signed a joint venture with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to distribute Otis vertical transport solutions in the country. This expands CIC’s portfolio from solely a home solutions provider to a building solutions provider.
2016
Formed Concepcion Business Services Inc.
The Concepcion Business Services Inc. (CBSI) was formed to consolidate backend business processes and provide strategic organizational support that enables the company to deliver more efficient and responsive business solutions.
2017
CIC’s Commercial Division Was Renamed Alstra
CIC’s commercial division was renamed Alstra, focusing on delivering unmatched end-to-end building solutions. With our brands like Carrier, TOSHIBA Climate Control Solutions and OTIS Vertical Transport Solutions, Alstra maintains unparalleled focus on our clients’ vision that enables us to respond to every need with only the best that our global brand network and systems bring.
2019
Start Of CIC’s Tech Ventures Expansion And Innovation Investments
2019 marks the start of CIC’s investment into innovation and technology ventures through strategic partnerships under Cortex Technologies. This year saw the birth of CNX for Home.
2020
CIC Launches WeCARE And Expands Its CSR And Emergency Response Programs
Keeping its promise to be a company that serves its community, CIC launched WeCare. Further, we have also expanded our CSR program to help the communities in need through the Be the Light program.
